    Can anyone confirm these answers from wednesday?

    Page 36
    #3)
    BINOMDIST = .13788
    NORMDIST  = .13807
    #4)
    NORMDIST = .31739
    #5)
    P([Z<=94)= .739 P([Z<=86)= .310 subtract the two and get = .429 Page 41 #1) Bin(900,.5) 1-P([X<=474])= .05117 ...so we are able to conclude median temp is greater than 98.6 #2) Bin(260,.1) 1-P([X<=37])= .01157 ...No, I do not have reason to doubt the claim because the probability of finding 38 left hand golfers is extremely small.  If it was above .05, then it could be possible and give doubt to the 10% claim.

    Friday’s Homework
    Problems 6,7 pg. 36

    #6)
    BINOMDIST= .3001
    Laplace-DeMoivre= -.5178
    NORMDIST= .3022989

    #7)
    k  | BINOMDIST | Laplace
    ————————–
    11 | .7482…  | .7488…
    22 | .7852…  | .790569
    33 | .8168…  | .8169…

    55 | .8643…  | .86433…

    Problems 7,8 pg. 37

    #7)
    – Find the smallest positive integer K such
    that P([S5>=k])< =.10? k  | k-1 | 1-BINOMDIST -------------------------- 5 | 4    | .03125   <---- answer is 5 4 | 3    | .1875 3 | 2    | .5 2 | 1    | .8125 1 | 0    | .96875 0 |      | #8) - Find he largest value of p? p  | BINOMDIST --------------- .7 | .85 .6 | .95  <---- answer is .6 .5 | .989 .4 | .998 Problems 4,5 pg. 43 #4) Laplace= -16.938 NORMDIST= .17233e-64 #5) Patient | Upright | Down | + = lower rate ----------------------------------------- 1       | 142     | 154  | + 2       | 100     | 106  | + 3       | 112     | 110  | - 4       | 92      | 100  | + 5       | 104     | 112  | + 6       | 100     | 101  | + 7       | 108     | 120  | + 8       | 94      | 90   | - 9       | 104     | 105  | + 10      | 98      | 114  | + ------------------------------------------ 10 plays, p(+)=1/2 # +'s is Bin(10,.05) P([X>=8])
    = 1-P([X<=7]) BINOMDIST= .9999... 1-BINOMDIST= 1.6058e-09 So, upright is better.

    #5 should have a probability of .5 NOT .05.
